Two Day Update

Sunday I had a strong opinion on Camelot Kitten @ 5/1 in the Knickerbocker Handicap run at 1 1/8 at Belmont Park. My charge made a middle move then flattened out in the final eighth with no rally, a disappointing effort.

Today I made two wagers from Parx: In the 3rd race Discovery Bay went to an apprentice jockey for todays effort with speed and a drop in class I knew he would be on the lead in this race, and he opened up a big lead after the first quarter mile of the race and cruised to an easy victory paying $15.80/$7.00 Win and Place .In the days next event I went for a win only wager and was a sure winner until the odds on favorite nailed me at the wire...Good Bet/Bad Result.

The two day tally showed an addition of 6.5 points on the account. Tomorrow I will be looking at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington Kentucky for it's Fall Meeting. The only problem is the weather is uncertain and I will wait for an update on the conditions.

All The Best!

Low Volume Day

Struggled a bit today to connect with a few  high quality wagers. Hopefully, I am not waiting for the 'perfect' wager, which can stifle the confidence of a successful player in the long-term. I finally settled on the Belmont Park 3rd race where War Eagles Return (9/2),was part of a two horse entry in the 7 furlong event. He made a late run but never threatened the race winner so I settled for my place price and actually added 1.545 points to the account for the day.

High Volume Day

Wagered on six races on this Saturday from Belmont Park in New York and Keeneland Race course in Lexington Kentucky. Three winners at $10.40 $9.80 and $9.60 in addition to place pricing for a daily profit of 13.055 points. Some high quality racing at these two venues and some vulnerable favorites that I was able to take advantage of. that's a good part of winning is identifying the bad favorites and getting value on your selection.

Since October 1

Back in action since October 1 after a five month layoff, a much needed freshening period for family, work and long anticipated racing research.

Outstanding Day

Today was Florida Derby Day at Gulfstream Park and I made three wagers on the card and returned a nice 9.46 point profit on the account. The Derby was a main selection as Always Dreaming romped in the 1 1/8 contest beating a 4/5 favorite who managed to finish a distant third.

This is certainly an up and down game as I roller coaster my way through out the year ahead and then manage to give the profit all back. I want to gain some type of consistency in my betting so I will be concentrating on the place and show pools looking for realistic value with my advantage selections.

All the Best!!

One Bet debacle

Made one wager today at Fairgrounds with my horse not finishing the race because of a nasty spill...enough said. I will regroup by taking off the last day of the month, enough said!

6 day Update

A loss of over 6 points on the account over the past six days. Most of the horses ran into trouble throughout the race, however, that's racing as once the gates open the 'chaos' begins! But we love the game!!

Thankfully the inner dirt track at Aqueducts Winter Meeting was completed on Sunday, the main track opens on Friday for the Spring Meeting with turf racing in the near future.

2 Day Update

A small loss of 1.375 points on the account on Tuesday and Wednesday with 3 wagers and only one successful transaction. A bit of a slow wagering days which is normal on the 'dark' days when my regular circuit the New York racing Association is dormant.

Positive Monday

Today I wagered on three races from Fairgrounds that produced a fine 6.465 point profit. Very solid selections that were high percentage situations. No careless or reckless behavior today!!! I take it one day at a time.

Same Bad habits

My old habits surfaced over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday racing cards producing a loss of almost 30 points on the account. I wagered on a Pick 4 and a Pick 3 with a substantial investment of racing capital ( my bad excuse), is that I was in the black! I have to control the urge to wager on these highly speculative serial wagers because they are very low percentage though high yield bets. My discipline was disturbed by these wagers and the greed factor which is a hard control at times.

Still ahead 5.105 points after the melt down. will I learn from my destructive mistakes?????

Gulfstream Park ( Again)

Once again I visited Gulfstream Park on this Thursday and concentrated on two races the 5th, which I passed ( too many variables), for a confident wager, and the 11th. The 11th was a maiden claiming event at 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf. Miss Biondetti was my selection and rewarded with a 5/1 win and 8/5 show payoff to produce a nice 13.425 point profit on the day.

Tomorrow Aqueduct is back in action, my home circuit.

All the best!

Sunny Florida

After the significant snowfall that hit the New York City area yesterday it was nice to dream about attending beautiful Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Florida, (reality), even by a simulcast signal. Wagered on the 10th race Bluegrass Singer Off @ 4/1 went directly to the front in the field of 10 and though drifting out inside the last 100 yards secured the victory.

A gain of 2.27 points for the day on the lone wager.

Cheltenham Festival

With the action severely limited in the States I decided to wager on the Cheltenham Festival using the commentary of Wayward Lad and his fine blog. Had Melon for the place in the opener $3.60 as he finished a game second. In the next race I wagered on  two horses to win to take advantage of the 1/5 favorite Altior, well Charbel was leading until the final hurdle and went down at 13/1 WOW! tough break as I was counting my winnings!! That's racing as you have to cross the line first to get paid.

I enjoyed the races and will watch the remainder without any betting taking my 1.14 profit for the day.

Small profit

Three wagers from Fairgrounds Race course on this Monday with a $7.80 show price allowing for a 1.36 point profit on the account. A few heavy favorites on today's card which I made no attempts to beat as they were solid comprising weak fields.

A huge snow storm is arriving tonight so I have no idea if it will have any impact across the country for Tuesday's racing cards. So I will tread lightly at this moment.

All the best!

Back in Action

Back after an almost two months hiatus from posting. All is good I simply upgraded my network and have had work duties that has kept me very busy. Since my last posting I have lost over 23 points on the account. Mainly up and down win a little lose a little with a few bad runs-standard stuff.

Hope all is going well with all!

Quality versus Quantity

One wager, I repeat one wager on this Tuesday resulting in a 0.8 point profit on a solid horse at Turf Paradise. Sometimes it is preferential to take what they have to offer for the day. These Monday/Tuesday racing cards generally offer limited betting opportunities.

Good Run Continues

Two wagers on this Monday with Forever Plus @ $8.40/3.80, the "hot horse' on the board at Gulfstream Park in the 2nd race scoring with an inside move outlasting the race favorite. In the Aqueduct opener Redneck Gold @ 5/2 was soundly beaten for the top spot in the race by a 44/1 shot, so I took my $4.70 place digit and finished the race with a small profit.

Profit for the day 8.4 points.

Sunday, January 15, 2017

Another profitable day with two wagers from Aqueduct with a $5.30 show price in the days opener in a race with two horrible race favorites. In the 4th race Spanish Harlem went turf to dirt for a neat win @ 9/5 odds to secure a 6.3 point profit for the day. The remainder of the days racing card is fraught with many variables, and not worth an investment of racing capital.

Through the first 15 days of the new year and I am proceeding cautiously in my betting to avoid any of the usual pitfalls I have succumbed to in the past years. I want to isolate my best percentage plays of each racing day and capitalize building my betting bank. The problem this time of the year is that the lack of quality fields at my home base track Aqueduct has forced some poor percentage plays, which is not a recipe for success in the long-term.

Tomorrow is a special holiday card here in New York so I will do an initial focus on the racing and begin the work.

All the best!

Winning Continues

Three wagers on this busy Saturday with once again two of them cashing situations for a 4.1 point profit on the day. At Aqueduct in the opener Draxhall Woods @ 9/2 made a late run to the wire out finished with a 2/1 place price. In the 5th race Sunny ridge won easily at 5/2. The Gulfstream park 11th race was a loser @ 7/1.

Friday, January 13, 2017

66.6%

Three wagers on this Friday with two cashing a 5/2 winner in the Tampa Bay Downs 9th race. And a place finish in the Golden Gate 4th, who was the 'hot' horse on the board going off @ 8/1 after taking considerable Exacta and Double money. Liked the winner of the Aqueduct finale but was not going to take the 5/2 price offered off a 5/1 morning line.

All in all a good day with a solid six point profit heading into the weekend cards.

Hope all is going green in your betting!

Big Win

One wager today on this Thursday, the Gulfstream Park 9th race. Canadian Flyer @ 5/2 exploded in a wire to wire huge win at 5 furlongs on the turf. The result was never in doubt as jockey Jose Lezcano placed the foot on the gas pedal and let him run returning $7.80/$4.20 win and place for a solid 10 point gain on the account.

Wednesday, January 11, 2017

Another loss

Three wagers from the Tuesday and Wednesday cards showing a total 1.4 point loss. The power of the place and show wagers prevented a six point loss, as an insurance. Still ahead for the new year and ready for the next days work.

Lost Monday

Not a good showing on this Monday racing at Turf Paradise with an 10 point loss on the day. I spent a good deal of time doing the work and actually had four good spots for the day marked. Well, as they say, there are no breaks when it all looks like stealing money.

One horse, well backed checked multiple times and was no factor. Another horse, a confirmed front runner mysteriously lingered at the rear and never made a move towards the front runners. Another horse made a huge late run to be second by a whisker. The fourth wager on the day broke bad made a middle move into a hot pace and faded...not a good day LOL

Small Profit

Wagered on three races on this Sunday from beautiful and sunny Gulfstream Park in Florida cashing two of the three bets for a 2.4 point profit on the account. A slow and steady initial week of the year ending with a good profit.

Saturday, January 7, 2017

Three Day Update

A nice update as my profit of 13.4 points was attained with a 7/1 winner with a healthy place price. Today, my main track Aqueduct, in New York was cancelled because of the snow storm so my betting for the day is completed.

Two Day Skeid

Yesterday and today proved to be a losing run as I forced a few wagers on a wet racing surface that in hindsight should have been avoided as they showed no success on the off surface. Live and learn, as they say. I even managed to gamble away the few cents profit at this point in 2017 on a superfecta wager (discipline lapse), ha ha

I do acknowledge the fact that I will have to incorporate win wagers in my betting format in addition to the place and show as my friend reviewed my ledger and when the wagers were tabulated win/place, the profit margin improved dramatically. Statistics a weak point for me.

Traded money

(5) Parx 5  +3.63
(6) Fairgrounds 6 -3.8

Two wagers on this Monday with a 50% cashing rate producing a slight 0.17 point loss on the parlay. Tough loss in the Fairgrounds race a my charge finished 4th in the race. All in all a positive start to the year with 8.15 profit.

Sunday, January 1, 2017

Good Day

(1) Gulfstream Park 4 +2.8
(2) Gulfstream Park 6 +1.3
(3) Aqueduct 8  +1.82
(4) Golden Gate Fields 3 +2.4

A perfect record today as all four selections cashed to produce a nice 8.32 point profit on the opening day account for 2017. A well disciplined approach today evaluating the place and show pools for acceptable betting value. One of the four selections won their races today producing a $7.60 payout, which in turn, would have produced a 40 cent flat bet profit based on $2 win wagers. I make this point as my friend questioned the validity of concentrating on the place and show pools as opposed to the win slot. My answer was that I had the valuable facts to back up my argument that betting to win only has been a losing proposition through out the years, and that my ability to produce a very high in-the-money cashing rate with my selections is the reason for my wagering approach. In addition it is less stressful as I have a built in insurance against the jockey error, bad racing luck, and the surprise package in a race that wakes up and wins at a price.

Hope every one had a great New Years Day.
