Quality versus Quantity

One wager, I repeat one wager on this Tuesday resulting in a 0.8 point profit on a solid horse at Turf Paradise. Sometimes it is preferential to take what they have to offer for the day. These Monday/Tuesday racing cards generally offer limited betting opportunities.

Good Run Continues

Two wagers on this Monday with Forever Plus @ $8.40/3.80, the "hot horse' on the board at Gulfstream Park in the 2nd race scoring with an inside move outlasting the race favorite. In the Aqueduct opener Redneck Gold @ 5/2 was soundly beaten for the top spot in the race by a 44/1 shot, so I took my $4.70 place digit and finished the race with a small profit.

Profit for the day 8.4 points.

Sunday, January 15, 2017

Another profitable day with two wagers from Aqueduct with a $5.30 show price in the days opener in a race with two horrible race favorites. In the 4th race Spanish Harlem went turf to dirt for a neat win @ 9/5 odds to secure a 6.3 point profit for the day. The remainder of the days racing card is fraught with many variables, and not worth an investment of racing capital.

Through the first 15 days of the new year and I am proceeding cautiously in my betting to avoid any of the usual pitfalls I have succumbed to in the past years. I want to isolate my best percentage plays of each racing day and capitalize building my betting bank. The problem this time of the year is that the lack of quality fields at my home base track Aqueduct has forced some poor percentage plays, which is not a recipe for success in the long-term.

Tomorrow is a special holiday card here in New York so I will do an initial focus on the racing and begin the work.

All the best!

Winning Continues

Three wagers on this busy Saturday with once again two of them cashing situations for a 4.1 point profit on the day. At Aqueduct in the opener Draxhall Woods @ 9/2 made a late run to the wire out finished with a 2/1 place price. In the 5th race Sunny ridge won easily at 5/2. The Gulfstream park 11th race was a loser @ 7/1.

Friday, January 13, 2017

Three wagers on this Friday with two cashing a 5/2 winner in the Tampa Bay Downs 9th race. And a place finish in the Golden Gate 4th, who was the 'hot' horse on the board going off @ 8/1 after taking considerable Exacta and Double money. Liked the winner of the Aqueduct finale but was not going to take the 5/2 price offered off a 5/1 morning line.

All in all a good day with a solid six point profit heading into the weekend cards.

Hope all is going green in your betting!

Big Win

One wager today on this Thursday, the Gulfstream Park 9th race. Canadian Flyer @ 5/2 exploded in a wire to wire huge win at 5 furlongs on the turf. The result was never in doubt as jockey Jose Lezcano placed the foot on the gas pedal and let him run returning $7.80/$4.20 win and place for a solid 10 point gain on the account.

Another loss

Three wagers from the Tuesday and Wednesday cards showing a total 1.4 point loss. The power of the place and show wagers prevented a six point loss, as an insurance. Still ahead for the new year and ready for the next days work.

Lost Monday

Not a good showing on this Monday racing at Turf Paradise with an 10 point loss on the day. I spent a good deal of time doing the work and actually had four good spots for the day marked. Well, as they say, there are no breaks when it all looks like stealing money.

One horse, well backed checked multiple times and was no factor. Another horse, a confirmed front runner mysteriously lingered at the rear and never made a move towards the front runners. Another horse made a huge late run to be second by a whisker. The fourth wager on the day broke bad made a middle move into a hot pace and faded...not a good day LOL

Small Profit

Wagered on three races on this Sunday from beautiful and sunny Gulfstream Park in Florida cashing two of the three bets for a 2.4 point profit on the account. A slow and steady initial week of the year ending with a good profit.

Three Day Update

A nice update as my profit of 13.4 points was attained with a 7/1 winner with a healthy place price. Today, my main track Aqueduct, in New York was cancelled because of the snow storm so my betting for the day is completed.

Two Day Skeid

Yesterday and today proved to be a losing run as I forced a few wagers on a wet racing surface that in hindsight should have been avoided as they showed no success on the off surface. Live and learn, as they say. I even managed to gamble away the few cents profit at this point in 2017 on a superfecta wager (discipline lapse), ha ha

I do acknowledge the fact that I will have to incorporate win wagers in my betting format in addition to the place and show as my friend reviewed my ledger and when the wagers were tabulated win/place, the profit margin improved dramatically. Statistics a weak point for me.

Traded money

(5) Parx 5  +3.63
(6) Fairgrounds 6 -3.8

Two wagers on this Monday with a 50% cashing rate producing a slight 0.17 point loss on the parlay. Tough loss in the Fairgrounds race a my charge finished 4th in the race. All in all a positive start to the year with 8.15 profit.

Good Day

(1) Gulfstream Park 4 +2.8
(2) Gulfstream Park 6 +1.3
(3) Aqueduct 8  +1.82
(4) Golden Gate Fields 3 +2.4

A perfect record today as all four selections cashed to produce a nice 8.32 point profit on the opening day account for 2017. A well disciplined approach today evaluating the place and show pools for acceptable betting value. One of the four selections won their races today producing a $7.60 payout, which in turn, would have produced a 40 cent flat bet profit based on $2 win wagers. I make this point as my friend questioned the validity of concentrating on the place and show pools as opposed to the win slot. My answer was that I had the valuable facts to back up my argument that betting to win only has been a losing proposition through out the years, and that my ability to produce a very high in-the-money cashing rate with my selections is the reason for my wagering approach. In addition it is less stressful as I have a built in insurance against the jockey error, bad racing luck, and the surprise package in a race that wakes up and wins at a price.

Hope every one had a great New Years Day.
