The Belmont Festival

Thursday begins the three day Belmont Festival with three days of the finest racing in North America featuring many graded stakes races and the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday at the classic distance of 1 1/2 miles. This years edition is a triple crown possibility as Justify, the winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes attempts to earn the 13th triple crown.

I will be attending all three days and will be looking for situations where i can take advantage of any edges available with the huge wagering pools. Wish me luck because it is always a test of discipline and patience waiting for the right spots to pull the trigger on these special event racing days where value can be disguised in the midst of the wagering activity.

All the best!

Seven Day Report

A loss of 2.4 points on the account for the past week which in retrospect was a slow betting week. I am once again concentrating on the value in the place and show pools to reduce the losing runs associated with the straight and exotic wagering formats.

Looks to be a busy weekend of action as I will attending the races at beautiful Belmont Park Saturday. Next Saturday Justify will be attempting to win the Triple Crown with the 11/2 Belmont Stakes the third leg of the series for 3 year olds.

The Roller Coaster Ride Continues

A loss of 24.78 points on the account for the past two weeks mostly accounting my attempt to defeat the Preakness Stakes winner last Saturday. I am making good wagers, well thought out value advantage wagers. My problem is increasing my point investment and not cashing on these bets. I must formulate a maximum wager amount and stick to a more disciplined methodical wagering strategy for the long-term.

All the best!!!

Win Some Lose Some

A gain of 10.15 points on the account the past four days with a few value advantage wagers that included a 6/1 winner. Plenty of work needed to crack the 11 race card at Belmont Park tomorrow.

Unavoidable

Though i had no intentions of wagering on this Monday a Pop-Up wager caught my attention in the Will Rogers Downs 7th race. A maiden claiming event the #3 horse Classy Haze received much support in the Doubles and opened up the race favorite.  Ridden by top jockey (19%) Bryan McNeil the horse went off at 5/1 and led the entire 1 1/16 race until the last steps beaten by a 66/1 shot at the wire. My win/show wager produced a small 1.98 profit on the account in what proved to be quite a "live selection"...proving even the real live bets lose!!!

Derby Beating

A loss of 35.13 points for the past five days highlighted by a big Kentucky Derby loss. Where do i start??? Had a strong opinion on two horses in the Kentucky derby field and wagered both to win enthusiastically in the 20 horse field. I ran second and third beaten by the race favorite Justify , who earned the victory attending to fast fractions through out the 1 1/4 race on a sloppy surface. No regrets made a good wager resulting in a loss, the only problem is my tendency to raise my wager amounts on these big event betting cards.

I will regroup and take a few days off and pick up the action when Belmont Park Day 8 arrives on Thursday

All the best

Jake.

Belmont Park Opening day

The opening of the Belmont Park Spring/Summer meeting was today and i attended the races and kept my powder dry with no wagers through out the ten race card which is a rarity for my betting style,

I remain in profit for the year with this update but the profit margin has been cut in half with this reporting period.

Decisions

Two wagers  on this Saturday with both cashing situations for a 4.03 point profit. I showed good discipline on a day that offered plenty of validated value spots, of which I passed when the edge was not clear. these last minute decisions are a product of the wagering strategy that i have chosen as i use the latest odds available before each contest.

All the Best! Jake

Good Days

A couple of good days with Thursday and Friday producing a 22.65 profit on the account with 4 winning wagers out of 5 wagering place or show. As the Spring season begins with today's opening of the Keeneland Spring Meeting with it's full fields of competitive racing including grass racing the opportunities for profits are enhanced.

Some might argue that wagering a limited amount of time in the win pool is not the greatest path to successful wagering. This premise might be factual, but the long losing runs that occur with the straight wagering can have a detrimental affect of the players psychology...with me this is a fact as i am not suited to the long losing runs.

Anyway i have chosen my charted path after much thought and research and I will proceed with confidence. Plenty of possibilities on the Saturday cards from Aqueduct and Keeneland with their Derby Prep races.

Update

The account is now at a +8 points. I have been concentrating on the [place and show pools] mostly and recording some nice value. In the past few weeks i have lost a few photo finishes on the win end that has me backing off from this straight bet and wagering in the back holes as a hedge against jockey error and the short head loser.

Some days I have wagered on 7 or 8 spots while the average has been 3 or 4 for each day.

All the best!

Patience Pays

Yesterday i sat without making a wager through a busy Sunday of racing. Today, i continued in the waiting mode until the Parx 3rd event where my horse I'M SLEEPING IN the second choice @ 3/1 in the morning line, was 7/1 at post time as they made the race favorite the 3/2 over bet choice in the betting.

RULE: When you see excellent value 7/1 on what i thought would be 5/2 i doubled my wager and watched as my charge waltzed around the oval on the lead for a mile and 70 yards and won the race going away paying $16 to win. Yes, it does pay to be patient in this game. especially when they are giving double odds offered on your selection.

A profit of 22.5 points on the account on this one bet day!!

Quiet Sunday

Viewed dozens of races on this Sunday but kept my money safe with no wagers. I am working on my discipline to wait for the best opportunities and when a potential wager has a negative that i deem serious I pass. The game plan is to wager with confidence and without any wishing, hoping or guesses...enough said.

Big Racing Day

A very busy Saturday with big races at a number of tracks. I settled in for the Gulfstream Park Race3 a 7 furlong claiming event with AMACE my selection @ 5/2. Though he stumbled at the start he recovered raced in mid pack made a middle move at the half mile pole and won by a 1 1/4 lengths with steady urging.

The remainder of the day i made place and show wagers on high probability realistic value horses that brought an additional 2.95 points to the account.

Two Month Update

After a two month absence from posting(what else is new) LOL My current status is +3.15 points. It has been a difficult beginning of the year as my home town track Aqueduct has been racing about three days a week and has had numerous weather related cancellations. These cancellations and the wet weather has forced a very limited participation searching for legitimate good value betting situations. The betting cards will improve in March and that is a good thing,

Best of luck to all!

Happy New Years!!!! A day devoid of any prime wagers so i took advantage of five races in the place and show pools for a 5.98 point profit. I was successful in 4 of the 5 wagers, and interesting to note that none of the five horses were able to win their prospective events...
